If you have recently installed or upgraded to Outlook 2013, and use html based signatures with images, you may have found that when you send an email using the signature, the recipient doesn’t get the images on their end. They just appear as a little red cross. Previous versions of Outlook would embed the images in the email, and the recipient would see them fine. In Outlook 2013 however, it now defaults to not embedding the signature images for some reason. This has to do with an option relating to embedding linked images. Outlook 2013 keeps them as linked images, where as older versions would embed the linked images in the email.
If the image you are using is on a publicly accessible web server, linking to that in the signature is the way to go. If you don’t have a web server, and you just want to use a image on your local pc, this is a problem.
Luckily there is an easy fix if you want to still embed the signature linked images in the email in Outlook 2013.
This involves creating (or modifying if it already exists) the following registry entry:

Name: Send Pictures With Document
Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD 32-bit value)
Value: 1
Ensure the casing of the key name is correct, and include the spaces.
